I have a big need for salty snacks in my life. I’m more of a chips and French fried kinda girl. More so than having a sweet tooth for chocolate or candies. One of the hardest parts for me transitioning to plant-based foods was leaving behind Doritos! Those were my guilty pleasure.
So someone gave my oldest a bag of Doritos and it is always hard for me to have those around. You’d think it was more of an addiction the way I felt when I saw Doritos. So I new there had to be a way for me to feed that cheesy chip craving! This is it! Best part is it literally takes 5 minutes to finish!
Start by adding the nutritional yeast, onion and garlic powder, paprika and olive oil to a large ziplock bag. Seal it and mix the ingredients together. Press and shake the mixture to fully combine everything together.
Add in the tortilla chips and shake well for a couple minutes. Move the chips all throughout the bag to be sure to get the coating distributed evenly on all chips.
Serve in a bowl or eat straight from the bag.
Hope you enjoy this vegan version of cheesy “Doritos”.
Remember they won’t taste EXACTLY like Doritos but they serve their purpose especially if you’re used to consuming nutritional yeast!
